Dr Sarah Gallagher is an Arnold F Graves Research Fellow in the Solar Energy Group based at the Focas Institute (School of Physics) at Dublin Institute of Technology. Sarah graduated from University of Ulster with a BSc (Hons) in Environmental Science in 2000 and in 2004 with a PhD in a novel method for solar concentration, the Quantum Dot Solar Concentrator collaborating with Imperial College London, Manchester University, Saint Gobain and BPSolar. She has also worked on EU funded evacuated glazing and phase change materials for heat storage projects. Her current work is funded by Sustainable Energy Ireland in collaboration with an EC consortium FULLSPECTRUM involving 17 European academic and industrial partners and furthers research undertaken through her PhD. She has been involved in a number of initiatives to coordinate solar energy and sustainable energy research through the Solar Energy Group in the Focas Institute and is currently on the organising committee of an international conference on renewable energy (REMIC2). She is currently is undertaking a feasibility study of Photovoltaics to Irish industry commissioned by Enterprise Ireland and is involved in a National Study on Alternative Energy Systems to meet requirements of Energy Performance of Buildings Directive commissioned by SEI.
